Where are you from originally?
I was born in Guangdong, China. When I was 11 years old, I went to study the cello in Shanghai for 6 years.
How many years in the symphony?
I joined the symphony in September of 2018. This is my third season with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
Hobbies?
I love watching movies, opera and playing computer games when I am not working and practicing. I love cooking for my family and friends. I also love museum exhibitions.
If you were not a professional musician, what would you be?
I would be an interior or fashion designer, or an archeologist. I enjoy reading archeology articles and the stories behind the antiques.
All time favorite piece to play? To listen to?
The Bach Cello Suites are my all time favorite pieces to practice. I can always learn new things from them, not only the techniques, but they also give me so much inspiration. Practicing Bach calms me and always reminds me of the simplicity of music making. Puccini operas, Rachmaninov piano concerti, and Schumann song cycles are my all time favorite pieces to listen to.
