Where are you from originally? I am the only current member of the ASO that was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama!
How many years in the symphony? 5 years
When did you know that you wanted to become a professional musician? I was performing as a member of the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckinridge, Colorado one summer during college when I had my career epiphany. I called my parents after our first concert in total excitement, and knew then that I wanted to do that for the rest of my life!
Favorite spots around town? Hard to choose because there are so many. El Barrio is my favorite restaurant and Queen’s Park is my favorite cocktail bar.
Hobbies? I consider myself a very active person and love exploring everything Alabama has to offer outdoors. Hiking, running, or simply a long walk in one of the city’s historical districts are among my favorite things to do on a beautiful day.
How has being a member of the ASO connected you to our community? I’ve had the immense pleasure of connecting with patrons over the years at various ASO events or after concerts in the lobby. About a month ago I was shopping in Costco wearing an ASO t-shirt and was stopped by a concert patron who looked at my shirt giving me a double thumbs up. He shared with me how much he loves the symphony, specifically the wind section 😉, and assured me that the community at large would see us through this impossible situation. I’ve never felt more connected to our community than I did in that moment amongst the jumbo size spices and condiments!
